Our guide to Barwon Heads

Our guide to Barwon Heads

Phoebe Bell |

CollageAfter shooting our latest Cali Collection in the sleepy beach town of Barwon Heads we thought it was only fitting that we share all that this quaint sea-side town has to offer! With the help of our local friend, Kaz, from Cottesloe Beach Shack we’ve compiled a great bucket list for your weekend away – you lucky thing!

When your peckish… And let’s face it, that’s priority number 1 when on vacay…

Annie’s Provedore is a one stop shop for everything delectable and delicious that you could even dream of wanting to eat whilst vacaying on the coast. Pop in for a delicious breakfast or grab one of their plate licking meals to enjoy in the comfort of your accommodation. The walls are jam packed with biscuits, preserves and oils whilst the ceiling is sprawled with hanging goods and woven baskets! There is a lot to take in with heavenly looking produce in every corner!

Be sure to stop by the Barwon Winestore on your afternoon stroll from the beach and grab yourself a bottle or three! The owners pride themselves on acquiring a range of local wines and have an immense amount of local knowledge exceeding that of just vino!

Feeling peckish after your afternoon dip? Then look no further than At The Heads where you can grab a seat with a view whilst refuelling with a drink and bowl of chips. Friday nights they also have happy hour and a live band to get you straight into that holiday vibe.

Time for a play…

The ‘city’ centre might look humble but it’s an easy way to lose a few hours wandering and exploring the eclectic mix of stores.

Always wanted to try Paddle boarding? Well Barwon Heads is the place! Paddle up and down the river and take in the scenery if you can manage to look up and not fall off! Check out Tripadvisor for more details.

If you still have some energy left, why not have a hit at the local golf course? Nestled amongst the coastal dunes and just metres from the spectacular 13th Beach Surf Coast, the Barwon Heads Golf Club is rated one of Australia’s Top 10 public access courses.

If you have a soft spot for Australian fauna then the koala sanctuary is a must! They do amazing work taking care of sick and injured animals and even let you pat and hold these furry friends. Rumour has it, Matilda the wombat has some real personality!

Where to get the best zzz’s…

You really need to look no further than Cottesloe Beach Shack! Kaz, the owner, is an absolute delight and has quite literally thought of everything you could possibly need for a long weekend away. The house is decked out in Sage x Clare whilst the shelves are filled with a an envious amount of coffee table books to keep you distracted for hours. If you’re visiting in the cooler months be sure to light yourself a fire in the old school free-standing wood-burner or toast some marshmallows on the outdoor fire pit. However, if you’re visiting in the warmer months take some time to relax in the front garden and read the paper under the umbrella or sit back and enjoy an aperitif out the back in the vintage, swinging seat. The Cottesloe Beach Shack really is the perfect home away from home!
