The Making of Margot

The Making of Margot

Bonnie Kelly |

Our Margot photoshoot was a big, beautiful beast — full of moving parts, creative sparks, and easily one of our proudest achievements to date. The imagery? Absolutely stunning. The locations? Jaw-dropping. And the collection itself? We’re beyond proud and head-over-heels in love. Margot isn’t just a collection — she’s a work of art.

With every new collection we dream up, a whole new world is created behind the scenes. It’s a months-long labour of love from our entire team — from the first flicker of an idea to the carefully curated mood boards, the colour palette that sets the tone, and the designs that take shape stitch by stitch. Those magical images you see across our website and socials — beautifully captured by the inimitable Armelle Habib — are anything but accidental. Every single detail is carefully considered and styled to bring Margot to life.

From the early concept phase to the chaos of the shoot itself, it’s a journey — one filled with iced coffees, colour galore, sun-drenched locations, and more Coke cans than we’d care to admit (hello, heatwave!). After all the planning, prepping, and packing, we finally arrive on location — and that’s when the real magic begins.

This time, we had the joy of shooting across three unforgettable locations: the effortlessly cool home of interior designer Tali Roth, the eclectic antique haven Ma House Supply Store founded by Ben Mooney (we were in his dreamy apartment above the store), and the creative sanctuary of artists Camille Laddawan and Roslyn Orlando, better known as Collingwood House.

We’re constantly blown away by the talent and heart of our crew —shoutout to Armelle and her amazing assistant Sarah Wilkosz, who have become a much-loved extension of our team. And when you’re spending a full, sweaty, joy-filled week together, that connection makes all the difference.

So if you’ve ever wondered what really goes on behind those dreamy shots — here’s a little peek behind the curtain. Expect colour, creativity, chaos (the good kind), and a whole lot of team spirit. Scroll on for some of our favourite memories from the Margot shoot, plus a BTS photo dump we’re very excited to share with you.

A huge thanks to our long-time prop partners - House Of Orange.

A few of our favourite memories…

Phoebe - founder and creative director: Our Margot photoshoot had me in awe the whole way through. Every photoshoot we produce is incredible but Margot was another level again! The location (Tali Roth’s family home) amplified the creative process and there was an abundance of original architectural features teamed with edgy design choices. I loved it! Oh and I can’t forget to mention the delish lunch from Pita Man. Still thinking about it.

Emma - senior designer: I really enjoyed kids day. My nephew Harvey came in to do his modelling debut. It was so special to have my family and my designs come together. The photos of little Harvey in the Jarvis cot have gone straight to the pool room.

Ally - customer service specialist: I love the camaraderie that comes with working with the photoshoot crew, fills my cup like nothing else. We're all from different areas of the business and getting together along with Armelle and Sarah is always filled with laughter, hard work, learning new skills, creative thinking and problem solving. Just the most unstoppable group of women you've ever seen, making magic happen. Seeing the INCREDIBLE imagery that we spit out at the end of a shoot is incomparable to anything else.

Armelle - Photographer: The home of interior designer Tali Roth is next level special and was the perfect marriage for the Margot collection. Having photographed homes for 15 years now I always look forward to seeing the next shoot location for Sage x Clare and how the collaboration unfolds within the space.

Erin - General Manager: I loved having my sister there for a day to show her part of what I do & how we bring collections together. Always...my favourite parts are seeing the collection come to life and understand the inspo behind them, also getting to spend the time together with team in a different setting. I feel like we have the chance to get to know each other in a way that we don't always in the office. And this time, LOVED Tali's house and exploring all the interesting things she has done.

Sara - Photography assistant: Absolutely love being apart of the Sage x Clare shoots! Good vibes! Good energy! Tali Roth’s home was the perfect fit for the Margot collection! Always love the model/fashion days, it really helps bring the whole collection to life.

Lydia - warehouse assistant: I love being apart of the photoshoots, being able to spend time in some truly amazing, art filled homes is so inspiring. My favourite Margot shoot memories come from Ma House Supply Store an epic location that also included vintage shopping and there was a cute dog, I mean, thats a trifecta for me!

Sophia - junior designer: I absolutely loved Model Day! It’s always so inspiring to see the models effortlessly rock every look—they make everything look so cool and stylish. Which can be bad for my bank account, as I ended up wanting to buy every single piece of apparel from the Margot collection.

Laurene - designer: Being the first photoshoot(s) with the team, the overall experience was very special to me. Seeing all the hard work the team is putting behind each scene is wild. All the creativity and laughter still flying through the room... even when it was 40 degrees outside. Being able to visit some amazing houses and being obsessed with their designs choices! A favourite design feature was that romantic balcony between the bathroom and the living room in the Collingwood House.

Bonnie - content creator: I still get the same feeling of awe and fascination on every Sage x Clare photoshoot. One moment a room is bare and empty and the next, the styling team have completely transformed the room, their creativity genuinely blows my mind. Tali Roth’s place really inspired me, it made my realise how important the right art is in a home. I actually loved the heat wave because I despise being cold. The highlight of my day is always that 3pm moment where Ally and I look at each other with a telepathic nod… and we know it’s time to crack an ice cold can of coke.

With a whole lotta love xx
