Copywriter Job Description

JOB TYPE: FULL TIME CONTRACT

LOCATION: BAYSWATER, VIC 

REPORTS TO: MARKETING MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

The role of the Copywriter is focused on planning, writing, editing and publishing engaging written content across all marketing, PR and business communication channels and assets. Responsible for optimising communications (SEO, language, tone, message) based on our target audience’s behaviours and the brand strategy.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and manage multiple campaigns and/or projects at one time and ensure editing quality control, tight deadlines and targets are met
  • Plan, create and produce compelling, holistic and engaging content & copy, across multiple communication channels that is aligned to business activities & meets brand objectives
  • Be resourceful and conduct your own research into a given topic including but not limited to gathering insights from the wider team, industry, interviews, varying sources etc. to translate into copy;
  • Write & manage SEO friendly copy on all website content including product collection pages, product descriptions, landing pages, ‘about us’, etc.
  • Write engaging and on brand business job ads based on job descriptions
  • Develop and maintain a clear and consistent brand voice, adhering to commonly used style guides.
  • Write clear, concise, engaging and grammatically correct copy all brand communications including but not limited to:
    • Collection bios
    • Product Descriptions
    • Retail & Wholesale journals (blog articles)
    • Retail & Wholesale social media captions
    • Retail & Wholesale EDMs
    • Retail & Wholesale Web Banners, Landing Pages and content blocks
    • Facebook Ads
    • Collection look books
    • Press releases
    • Special events, i.e. trade shows or events
    • Loyalty Program
    • Collaboration projects
    • Promotional materials
    • Policy documents
    • Additional marketing & PR initiatives, i.e. competitions, Ambassador / Influencer programs, etc.
    • Any additional ad hoc content & copy needs of the business
  • In collaboration with the Content Creator, select and schedule imagery to accompany Social Media captions
  • Upload product descriptions to Shopify
  • Ensure all product information on all websites is up to date and accurate including actioning pricing changes, editing product descriptions, updating policy documents, updating data fields as required from time to time.
  • Positively engage on Sage x Clare social media posts
  • General duties for all team members include but not limited to:
    • Assist with unloading containers, counting and stocking items in warehouse, when requested
    • Assist with packing orders in the warehouse during high volume times (online sales, collection release, pre-order arrivals, etc), when requested
    • Assist with warehouse sales, including working weekends where required, bump in and bump out
    • Maintain general tidiness of warehouse and office areas
    • Assist with seasonal events including trade show bump in and bump out including weekends and interstate, when requested
    • Assist with photoshoots, when requested
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

 ABOUT YOU:

  • Bachelors degree in Journalism, English, Advertising or Communications preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of creative industry experience in marketing, communications or copywriting
  • Experience in writing engaging short and long form copy required with previous exposure to working across product and online campaigns strongly preferred
  • A master storyteller able to sell the brand and its products to a diverse audience with a consistent tone of voice and goal of audience engagement
  • Strong editing and conceptual skills and demonstrated ability to confidently present creative ideas and concepts
  • Ability to write in different tones and manners
  • Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills with flawless grammatical knowledge
  • A good understanding of the digital advertising landscape and use within marketing & performance metrics and analytics
  • Understanding of and application of basic SEO fundamentals when it comes to copywriting
  • Experience with Klaviyo & Shopify preferred
  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact failure/cost of poor quality
